OVER PROMISE UNDER DELIEVER

We ordered SPRAY insulation from Feldco. Feldco subcontracted it out. I was at work when they came to do the work. I came back to find that they ordered BLOWN insulation. I called Feldco numerous times and they routed me to a person who never answered. I left voicemails. No response still. Granted, I can probably Insulate the sides myself because we lose a lot of heat out the attic walls, but now I have to crawl through all the blown insulation first. I would recommend you go through a different company when you need insulation, because they don't even know what they should be ordering for you.

Feldco - Full Warranty is a joke

Feldco - Full Warranty is a joke

We have 4 windows installed by "FELDCO" (sub -

contractors) 7 years ago for $2000. I know the price is

high but I was getting "life time warranty" so I thought

I was getting decent deal .Lately we have a lots of

noise coming through the windows it got to the point my 8

years old daughter starts to complain in the night she

can't sleep because is to noisy. We have family staying

over for night and they are also compiling about the

noise.Sometimes I check if the window is closed because

is so noisy.

We called feldco they told us we need to pay $60

service call fee to someone to come.OK if you pay up

front is $50 if you pay a the time when he comes you need

to pay $60 this sounds like a ripe off.He come 1 hour

later after his window time (3 h waist in my only day

off from work). After "inspection" window of course that

was nothing wrong in his opinion with the window. We stood

by the window me and my wife even though we did not face

the window we heard the car passing by and he said"I did

not hear that car at all"I LOL and told him to have his

ears check.HE walk out the house not saying

anything."excellent customer service.

Next day feldco call me basically telling me everything is

OK. I'm know is not I have been living in this house for

10 years and noisy is the same like with the window while

open .No more feldco for me ! Be aware of Feldco !!!!!

Garbage windows, warrenty a joke

the windows are poor quality, the lock's are useless. the warranty is not a warranty for life, its for one year.

don't, I repeat don't buy these poor quality windows. they lie cheat and steal. be forewarned. they will charge you 60 dollars to come out on a warranty claim and charge you for labor.

I cannot stress how poor the quality is for these windows. the locks don't meet, you will have nothing but problems with these FELDCO windows. liars, cheaters, stealers. don't be fooled, these are garbage windows.

stay away from this bad company. don't be fooled, stay away.

Not Pissed!!

I had researched Feldco on the web and saw a few complaints on pissed consumer. I had read positive reviews on other sites so I thought I would give them a try. After having them out to my house I felt compelled to come back on this site to say that I am pleased not pissed. They replaced my windows with brand new ones that I can actually open. They were curteous and efficient. The salesperson, measure person and installers were all fantastic. I love my new windows and will tell all my neighbors where to use Feldco. Great Job Feldco! I had 9 windows replaced in 2013 and they are just fine. Had a good install team and paid 5000 w upgrade to bronze ...

Guest

Bill, Good luck. The spring blocks will break in about 2-3 years.

$60 to come out, $35 to fix the window, + $89 an hour for labor.

You cannot buy replacement parts nor the "special" too required to replace them. Then 2-3 years later they break again.

Guest

It's good to see that the salespeople and management at Feldco write nice reviews on their site and this one too!

windows have a warranty, ummmmmmm trip charge after one year, 69.00, also M@i windows are mid quality, around $150.00 equals a window from home depot. 500 plus is a bit high

Guest

Wait a few years when seals begin to fail and you try to collect on the "full warranty." You'll resent having to pay a trip fee and an hourly labor fee to get your glass replaced.

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-715800

where does it say in warrantee you pay for trip charge, I read mind and it doesn't, my son wanted new windows , I think will go with someone else

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-815207

The language is vague and intentionally confusing. But, basically, you don't pay anything on the window.

You just pay for labor fees, trip charges, material handling costs, disposal expenses. .

. anything they can think of that isn't the window itself.

Glad to hear that you had a good experience. :grin

Poor quality windows

Installers were great as well as the sales man. Windows do not lock well screens are difficult to close and allows bugs to enter through poorly placed vent holes for water drainage. I am unable to leave windows open otherwise my home is glood with flying insects. The windows tilt from side to dide sometimes making it difficult to vlose. Others require extra force to close. Called Feldco more than 3 times about issues but have yet to get a response from them. Highly disappointed with overall quality of windows and Feldco's lack of interest to correct the problem. I would not recommend Feldco to anyone under any circumstances.

Warantee a joke

Shortly after installation of 2 windows that cost 5000, one of them was getting moisture between the glass. Even though i was told this was under warantee, that only lasted until the installers left my house because whwn i called about the moistute between glass, the told me it was not covered and that it would be 60 dollars for a guy to come out and then what ever it cost to fix tje problem. For 5000 they owe me a little more than that especially since it was a defective window. I was also told by them that I was crazy. Do yourself a favor and buy somewhere else.

Full Warranty a joke

The bottom of one of my vinyl windows has turned from white to a streaking orange rust color. I tried numerous cleaners that Feldco recommended to try and get off this staining but no luck. I call Feldco since I was told by the salesman that if there was any problems to call and they would come at no charge. Even their sales contract says full coverage of seal, breakage, and frame structure. No where does it say that after 1 year of purchase you need to pay just for them to come to your home to inspect the problem. I paid a lot of money simply for the full coverage warranty. This company is a joke. Don't bother buying windows from them unless you want to have them turn orange within 5 years.

Same problem with streak of orange on one of the windows. Probably an adhesive that turns color with age.

AVOID Feldco

We will never do business with them again. Very poor quality workmanship as well as a take-it-or-leave-it attitude when it comes to customer service. We had Feldco install a replacement sliding glass door for our sunroom and also had them install a double hung window to replace a garden window in our kitchen. The total cost for the install was around $2800 which I thought was high, but I wanted to go with the big name contractor so that we wouldn't have problems and would get quality work. Boy do I regret that decision. The double hung window is where we are VERY unhappy. First of all, the Feldco installers completely cracked all of the tile above our kitchen sink removing the garden window. They just left a 2.5' by 1' gap of missing tile and exposed exterior brick and fiberglass insulation above our kitchen sink. When I asked the "quality inspector" from Feldco that came to inspect the installers work if this is acceptable craftsmanship his response was that they don't "do" tile. I asked him if Feldco was going to fix it since they broke it and he told me no. He just took a picture of the damage and told me he was going to report it to a manager. The next problem was that the window trim is clearly out of square. I can understand construction tolerances, but when I'm standing across the room and can see at the bottom a that the trim is tight against my cabinets and at the top there is a 1/2'' gap it is UNACCEPTABLE. The "quality inspector" didn't have much to say about how bad it looked. We are relatively happy with the installation of the sliding glass door even though the install team forgot to leave us the keys to the door and we had to schedule a subsequent visit for a technician to come back and replace the door lock so they could give us a set of keys for the door. It's a real pain to have to take days off of work multiple times because of their error. Bottom line is if you have a chance to use someone else to install your windows, go with the other guys, they are probably cheaper and care more about not breaking their customers stuff.

Windows

Not happy with the windows getting wet at the bottom of them. Had Feldco out and they said it was the humidity in our home. We have since run our dehumidifer all day, every day, turning off only at night. The dehumidier sits directly in front of the worse window (we had 4 installed, they all get wet and in the cold, freeze). I questioned if it was condensation from the cold outside aid hitting the warm in the house since I thought the windows leaked. Of course, that was not the problem, it was the humidity. That simply is not true since we proved that with running the dehumidifer. Would never do business with them again.

Replaced by a criminal!!

Feldco Des Plaines is surely a place where The Good Guys finish last. My buddy was hired there not long ago as a "Call Center Supervisor." Mind you, he was the only Male in the entire department. The manager, who seems like the subordinate to the supervisor, is clueless and the supervisor, who is totally power struck, runs this place in a strict ANTI MALE fashion. Upper management here must be out to lunch for allowing these two to step all over a good Red Blooded American like Richard, who was improperly trained then fired for what he hadn't learned, which turns out to be how to treat people like crap. Then, to make matters worse, it was done all so they could "Promote from within" AN ADMITTED CONVICTED FELON. (I'm sure this is the best job she ever had.) I don't want any Felons coming to my home!!! I thought Feldco drug tested and Background checked all of its employees for a reason, especially management. Way to go Feldco. Bad installation, case still not settled

We contracted Feldco to replace all windows and a sliding door in our home, and realized what a bad decision when the installation crew started working on the house. They did a sloppy job, installed the sliding door against code, left dents on the inside walls and window shutters, a nail was sticking out in our living room, and there were already a number of scratches on the new windows. On top of all that, the house was left in a mess - wood dust all over the furniture (they cut wood for the framing in our bedroom!), and did not take their shoes. With the crew going in and out of the house all day, one could only imagine what the floors looked like at the end of the day. After multiple phone calls and follow-ups, and rescheduling several times, a month after the initial installation, another crew came back to fix the things that were not done right the first time. That was when the supervisor started trying to get away without doing things - e.g. not paying for the dented shutters and telling us that we have no proof that Feldco did the damage. True... we didn't take pictures before the installation, but, who would, if you believed that you hired professionals... We still have not settled this and signed our final papers... I will definitely not recommend Feldco to anyone after this experience.

This, and all the rest of the complaints, seems to be written by Feldco's competitors. Some of the things I've read are in no way ANY of the things Feldco does during or after an install.

It is true that the installers are subcontracted, BUT they ONLY do work for Feldco. They work for no other company. They arrive on time, they take great care in removing the poorly installed components, either buy the home owner, the original builder, or a fly-by-night competitor who goes out of business after they installed their windows or doors. Feldco was formed in 1953.

If they were doing such a poor job and had such appalling business practices, doesn't anyone think they would have been out of business YEARS AGO? Some many other window companies have gone under, restarted as another company only to go under again. For my money, the BEST BET is to hire to company that has been around the longest and has been number one in the Midwest for many, many years.

In fact, Feldco sold so many windows last year alone, the 4 closet competitors within reach of them couldn't even collectively come close to the amount! Bottom line: go with Feldco and you won't regret it!!!

:? Sorry every one of you had a BIG and costly sad experience with these people.

I am only commenting to thank you for the headsup as you have nothing to gain except what you have been through for future purchases of any king. Thank you! As the saying goes, if it too good to be true then it's not true. People should hire professional installers and guaranteed by the company they represent.

Very sad that in this economy that still doesn't hold true. Bless you all for and myself to have professional and kind purchases.

Feldco is Pushy

We had a horrible experience with Feldco that we had to share. First, they called us four times in one day to confirm our appointment for the next day, which I found excessive.

Their schedulers were aggressive, pushy and did not listen to what I asked for. The sales rep was worse. So scripted. If you asked a question off the script they did not know how to respond.

I sent them packing and would strongly NOT refer them to anyone. Buy elsewhere as you will get more curtious service and respect for what you actually need in your home.

Didnt take his shoes off. Very loud aggressive voice. Said they would price match and when i pulled out an estimate to price match he was dumbfounded. Finally agreeed to price match but i had to tell him today!

Told him i had 1 more person coming to give me an estimate to compare, and he quickly left. Windows seemed nice, not happy with salesman

Bad service, bad windows, bad warranty...

Listen up shoppers, because I have the scoop.

I own an entire home of Feldco Sophia windows. (21)

They leak, and they don't fit or guide well. They are a mistake.

You absolutely can get similar quality for less.

My installers rushed through the process so quickly, that by the

time I noticed the multitude of mistakes, they had damaged or

destroyed the casement along half of my windows. This was after I

specifically asked them to only perform an install from the outside

in. They did the opposite, and I had to call their office to get

the work stopped. Months later, along with numerous arguments, they

agreed to replace the casement damage with replacements that would

be unfinished. I was two months into not being satisfied, and I

still had a giant amount of refinishing to do on my time and with

my money.

Let's talk warranty. Feldco warranties you from spending any more

money on their windows for a lifetime. BUT...after five years you

will pay both a service call fee as well as all labor charges. That

boils down to me having to pay $135 for the replacement of glass in

one half of a double pane window. Really though, I just paid for

the window all over again.

I've left a metric ton of frustration out, but be warned. This

company is not professional or ethical. Run.

My wife and I had Feldco install their Sophia windows in our home five years ago, and have had NO TROUBLE with them! Once they were in, no outside air EVER got through again!

WE LOVE THEM! And they are made even BETTER now! In fact, we loved their exceptional quality so much, we had their salesman come back out and talk to us about a new entry door, transom and full sidelight. That just got installed yesterday .

. . and it is just what was expected: HIGH QUALITY! My old door had a waterfall of ice cold air in the winter and the windows let the burning rays of the sun in during the summer.

When their knowledgeable installers removed MY door that had been installed by the builder it was never insulated at all! Just Tyvek white paper on top of 2x4 wood! The Feldco installers just laughed. They have been installing doors for over 17 years and nothing surprises them any more.

Long story short, they were professional, cleaned up after themselves, did not finish till the job was perfect, and my door and windows are excellent!

I don't even need the blinds that I had up on the old door and side light; the HEAT does not come through the double paned, double strength glass and the Argon gas, which is 6 times denser than air, forms a seal so tight that the draft is completely GONE! And we had sixty mph winds that day!!

Guest

It's my own fault for not reading the small type on the warranty. After 5 years when the cheap hardware no longer holds or the windows no longer go up and down, they charge a trip fee and $89/hr to service their terrible windows.

Buyers beware. :sigh

Guest

Windows are cold to the touch and frost forms on some of them :(

Guest

Handles go bad very easy. I would never buy another window from feldco. Very poor quality

Guest

Feldco came out to give me an estimate & the salesperson was so rude- he stated they didn't have single hung windows only double hung & if I wanted single to go to Mernards or someplace like that. Then he said I'd have to give him almost $500.00 now - another a week later & the rest when they were done.

They advertise no intewrest financing for 1 year on TV-when I asked about this he didn't know anything about it.

Yeah right. After checking with other people I heard nothing but bad things about Feldco so I'm so glad I didn't have them do my windows.

Guest

Apparently your salesperson didn't go through your contract very well with you! Or you forgot the details?

They HAVE to install from both inside and outside because the EPA's regulations with Lead-free safety.

The contract also states that any casement or instop or outstop trim pieces will not be finished and you must do that yourself. Hope you found something else that made you happy!

Guest

we bought feldco windows and they leak. the installers were from a third party-not from feldco.

they didnt insulate the window frames and they keep on denying everything. when we covered it with plastic wrap the wrap ballooned out like a parachute falling from the sky

Changed my mind on buying windows

I had 2 employees of feldco come to my home to give an estimate on replacing some windows. We decided to purchase , signed agreement and gave manager Jason Merrick a check for 50% of the total cost.

He told us we had 3 days to cancel order. The next day we did some product comparison and decided another company has a better product for the money. We mailed back the right to cancel order that day and I called manager Jason and told him of my decision, He assured me my check would be triple shredded immediately! They seemed very trustworthy and I didn't realloy worry about it until about 3 days later my check had already been cashed!

So much for triple shredding. My husband spoke with Jason again who assured him our money would be refunded. So far no money has been received and Jason will not return my calls!

I am not giving up on getting my money back as it was a sizable amount. Buyer beware!!!

We had the same thing happen with Lumber Liquidators . We called our Credit Union and stopped payment.

Guest

In the future, use a credit card and then write the check to the credit card company instead of handing a check directly to the company! YOU can cancel your credit card charge and know it is cancelled! Lesson learned, eh?

Guest

Jason Merrick, our GM in Central Illinois, followed up directly with this customer and resolved all of his issues before the end of November 2010. This was an unfortunate error and not representative of our process, which includes a written cancellation policy and procedure for the customer to follow should they change their mind about their window, siding or door order.

Guest

Go to the BBB or attorney General and file a complaint, they will be sure to get on that a little quicker if you have not received your money.
